Bwegen (*3)
Bwegen is intended to stimulate sports in public space. Through clever and playful interventions, existing roads in the city turn into usefull sportfields.
* Lamppost-soccerfield - This lampposy is a positive solution for unused parkinglots at night or vandalism in the public space. You can kick this lanternpole on and it will project a soccerfield for 45 min.
* Speedometer- A speedometer designed for cars put along a bikepath to encourage cyclers to improve their own speedrecord or the speedrecords from others.
* Schaduwsigns- A group of signs put in the park with a distance of 500m between. With nice weather the park turns into runningtrack, because when the sun shines you read the distance that you are running in the shadow.
Minerva (*2)
Using minimal resources, how do you make important spots in a room stand out? The Minerva Academy presents nine disciplines. Each discipline has been given a table, which gives prospective students the possibility to chat with the teachers. These tables do not need huge signs: on each table a slide is projected. This subtle illumination gives the room an intimate, almost theatrical atmosphere. In collaboration with Han Koning. Photos: Jelle de Groot.
It Hûske (*5)
At the office people spend one hour on average a day away from their work. Facebook and dating sites are the most frequently visited websites during working hours. Also, the average employee stares from his office window one day a month. We could call this phenomenon "non-work". The Netherlands claim to have transparent office-politics, but there is clearly a taboo on non-work. However there is one place at the office where one can non-work "legally": the toilet. The non-working no longer takes place in toilets, but has been legalized and facilitated in 'it Hûske' since 2009. It Hûske doesn't have one particular function but welcomes everyone for a non-working moment; it's upto the user to decide what he wants to do. The Hûskes are a welcoming place in boring and serious offices: it gives more fun at work and less stress. The result is a more productive office.
Hufterproof / voor hufters (*1)
Meet vandalism in the public space with humor.
* Boxbusstop - Busstops often are victims of vandalism. It's not an option to replace the smashed windows weekly. Focused on the criminal, a playful reaction is a better response to agression. Forces can be measured by using the famous fairground attraction, implemented as a 3D billboard.
Het bedreigde hof (*3)
"I want to live in a place of which everyone knows: this is where a life threatened deputy lives and here he or she can be safe": this is the desire of Ayaan Hirsi Ali, a former Dutch politician. An increasing amount of people's lives with a public function - politicians, writers, comedians, etc. - are threatened. As a consequence they can no longer live at home. Thus a new hiding place for prominent life threatened people is suggested: The Threatened Court. A temporary home where one doesn't need to feel lonely. The location is the most visible, but also the safest place in the political heart of the Netherlands: the 'Hofvijver' in The Hague. Because everybody has the right to have a home. Linked by a bridge to the centre of the Dutch democracy: the place where the most valuable freedom of expression is defended.
Bagaazje (*6)
Keunstwurk and 'Provinsje Fryslân' commissioned a design contest to design the Frisian identity, the Bagaazjedragers. WURK tried to capture the Frisian identity in the follwing objects: the exit on the A28, a visa stamp in your passport, a number plate, the Frisism tiles, a masher for serious heavy mashing, a cheeky 'wurk chair' and a proud little dress for the Frisian Jeanne d'Arc Doutzen Kroes.
